About

Charis Camp was founded in 1947 by Reverend E.A. Lieske and Reverend A.G. Knopp with the heart of bringing people to Christ through the wonderful camp experience.  With the camp owned by the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada, this godly group of people decided to open their doors to the general public as well.  They knew that the camp experience was unlike any other and more people needed to be a part of that.  So without further ado the first guest group arrived in 1960.  Since then, people have been coming to their home away from home, meeting God through chapels, creation and staff for decades.

And that’s exactly the spirit that we at Charis Camp strive to accomplish – home. Whether you are here as a camper for a week in the summer, or a rental group for a weekend in the winter we do all we can to make your stay as comfortable as possible.  60 years of quality service has developed Charis Camp into a camp and conference centre in a class of its own. Nestled tightly at the base of Mount Cheam, Charis boasts both close proximity to Vancouver and the feel of a mountain getaway.  Sheltered by 20 acres of Cedar and Fir forests coupled with two rushing creeks, Charis Camp is truly a sensory adventure.  Enjoy a wonderful homemade meal and then relax in front of the fireplace with a hot cup of coffee. Or, take your coffee to go as you rush off to your next seminar, meeting, or activity.   Experience more than food and comforts, experience the joy and peace of nature, God’s wonderful creation.

With a number of adventure activities offered onsight, even the most timid can have a taste of the “wild side” of life. We have an indoor climbing wall and skatepark, as well as a challenge course for developing cooperation and communication within your group.  Let’s not forget about our 4 storey outdoor climbing wall for those who want to push the laws of gravity even more.  Combine everything that we have to offer with smiling staff and quality service, and we’re sure that you’ll be coming back year after year.
